FAQs

The current estate doesn’t meet modern living standards, as it was built in the early 20th century. The existing flats are extremely small and inefficient in terms of energy use.
Blocks A-D would have been challenging to bring up to a modern standard of living, while the other blocks were in better shape. The remaining blocks have had work undertaken more recently, so will be refurbished with new kitchens, bathrooms, windows and roofs.
Blocks E-0 will benefit from new kitchens, bathrooms, windows and (in most cases) roofs. The blocks will also be fitted with new lifts and communal entrance doors, as well as internal decorations to communal areas.
Works to blocks A-D include landscaping of the courtyard areas and the creation of a new green public space at the heart of the estate. Landscaping works to blocks E-O will also include improvements to communal gardens and courtyards.
The regeneration will be fully affordable rented, so no apartments will be available to purchase.
Some of the apartments will benefit from recessed balconies, and some will have external balconies.
Because the existing homes didn’t meet modern space standards, we have had to reduce the number of homes on the estate, offering more spacious apartments. We are also providing more wheelchair accessible units and larger family units as part of the regeneration.
